About the artist

Cath’s formative years were spent at an ‘old school-art school’ in the mid – late 80s. She has since had a career in graphic design and arts education. In 2021 she completed an MA in Inclusive Arts Practice at University of Brighton.

Cath’s practice centres around the transformation of found objects. Sourced from her local environment, in and around Shoreham-by-Sea, she takes the redundant and the discarded to create forms that reinterpret and overlay the meanings inherent in the original materials. The pieces begin to suggest fresh narratives that marry a sense of both their past and their becoming. Often visually illusionistic, her work unifies paradoxical senses of loss and potential.

Cath has exhibited in and around Sussex, most recently (2024) at Fabrica Gallery in Brighton and also at The Art Workers Guild in Bloomsbury, London.

Cath has over 30 years teaching experience in Further Education, Offender Learning and with Independent Training Providers. She has taught Graphic Design and digital technology skills courses and tutored privately. In addition, Cath has designed, delivered and facilitated inclusive arts workshops with marginalised groups, including DVLSC and Rocket Artists, and also designed and delivered participatory projects in galleries including at the Tate Exchange.
